Barry Sweet architectures brings a broad range of architectural experience and knowledge into a family business. Our focus is to provide a service that incorporates creative design with a high level of technical skill in both construction and all building processes.

The Barry Sweet team is led by Amanda Calvert. Amanda is a qualified architectural technician and registered architect (VIC) who spent much of her career as a project leader on large commercial and multi unit residential projects in Melbourne. With over 40 years combined experience the Barry Sweet team are committed to providing a high level of service, creativity and expertise to see your project become successful.

Residential

Our portfolio of residential work demonstrates design diversity. Residential projects are driven by both the unique site conditions - and importantly by listening to what our client’s really want for their own homes. We believe that homes and renovations are not “one size fits all” - and this is part of what makes our job enjoyable.

Interiors

Barry Sweet can provide integrated interior detailing and visualization to demonstrate how your proposal functions and feels. Interior spatial planning is considered right from the inception of a project - and the interplay between external form and great interior space is what makes a design successful. We like to ensure that we make the most of spaces so clever and efficient storage is a theme for many of our interiors.

Commercial

We have proficiency in retail, office design, educational and civic design. Much of our early experience has focused on large scale work involving teams of consultants and builders. We are growing our portfolio of commercial work where creative design is used to make businesses and public places functional and inspiring.

Feasibilities

Many projects need to start with a feasibility. Feasibilities are a process where we take your ideas and requirements for a project - and we explore design possibilities to achieve them. This involves both knowledge and research - but is also an exciting stage where we can form a creative vision for a project and talk about how to make it real.

Town Planning

For many of our projects town planning permits are needed. We work in an area where permit requirements are diverse and vary from urban to rural zones. We regularly apply for permits and produce plans specifically to respond to town planning requirements and we specialize in producing drawings that demonstrate how planning objectives are being met.

Tendering and Construction Services

The selection of a the right building team is critical for all building projects so this is something that we like to talk about with you in the early design stages. We have a number of builders and consultants that we work and can offer services ranging from monitoring of a project through to full contract administration services.

New Homes

Designing a new home should be an enjoyable journey. All new homes need to respond to their site and make the most of those specific environmental conditions. We work closely with our clients to help visualize and resolve all aspects of the design to ensure that an accurate model and drawings are provided before construction commences.

Renovations / Extensions

Renovations and extensions provide a really exciting opportunity to give an existing building a new lease on life. Many of our clients love their homes already but are wanting to enhance them in a way that adds inspiration and expediency to suit their needs today and in the future.

Commercial

Our know-how comes from working for many years on larger scale commercial projects in Melbourne. Over this time we've gained a thorough knowledge of compliance standards for public buildings and led teams of architects and consultants to see a number of successful projects come to life. In 2018 we look forward to seeing our first commercial projects enhance the historic streetscape of our local town.

Whether you are renovating or building new we recommend that the interior be an integrated aspect of a project. We can work with your interior designer, or provide a full scope of detailed interiors to suit your project.
